Muskelbrand in Slowenien | Burning legs in Slovenia
(For English version see below)
This was a perfect start. Slovenia gently acquainted us to our travels because many things are similar to home, e.g. the super markets (Aldi/Hofer, DM, etc.), the currency (€), the not applicable roaming charges or the other end of the far reaching (Julian) Alps. Slovenia won us over with its harsh, steep mountains (worst muscle hangover of the year!), its spectacular turquoise waters and the easygoingness of its people.
We would come back to one of the youngest nations on earth for: Active holidays in the Triglav national park (hiking, canyoning, cycling, rafting in the Soča valley), Ljubljana’s nightlife.
- Historic advertisement for Slovenia. Still relatively inexpensive but no longer Yugoslavia.
- On our 70k cycle we passed lake Jasna, close to Kranjska Gora.
- Danie behind and Ralf next to the Pericnik waterfall.
- Along the Vintgar gorge.
- Lake Bled under a thunderstorm.
- Pumpernickel strengthening prior to climbing Mt. Triglav.
- Danie (find her?) on her way to Slovenia's highest mountain, Mt. Triglav (2864m)....
- Rocky paths.
- Luxury. Private room in the mountain hut below Mt. Triglav.
- Are we there yet?
- Just before the steepest of all decents we ever did.
- We were not the only freaks hiking down the Triglav north face without equipment.(well, they had helmets).
- Survived. This is were we came from.
- Hello, Ljubljana. "... mother of pleasures".
- Why having 1 bridge if you can have 3?
- Just one of many pretty streets.
- We got directly involved in a street theater festival in Ljubljana, the Ana Desetnica.
- Lucky us, open air cinema at the castle.... watched "3 Billboards outside ebbing missouri"
- Witnesses of the past: We can never hide where we come from, ha?
- The Museum of Contemporary History wasn't as boring as it looks here.
- The city center during the nights: Metelkova.
- Writing this blog post with a glass of wine on top of the Neboticnik tower.

Our so far experiences came from nights in dorms. So at least, you had some privacy … maybe more than required 🙂
